IsatPhone2

Released by Inmarsat in 2014, the ISatPhone2 offers enhanced satellite communication even under the most adverse conditions.

The standard IsatPhone features include clear voice calls, SMS, short email messages and excellent coverage via the Inmarsat I-4 and Alphasat satellites.

The IsatPhone2 advanced features include:

  • faster network connection
  • enhanced battery life
  • notification alert for incoming calls even with the antenna down
  • GPS tracking via SMS or short emails, sent at fixed intervals
  • dedicated Assistance Button for sending personal alert
  • extremely robust and easy to use

"Personal Alert" function: When you press * and # together for 2 seconds, your GPS co-ordinates and a predefined message will be sent to up to 10 email or SMS recipients.

"Assistance Button": A call, SMS or email will be initiated to a remote party when the button is pressed.

"GPS Tracking": An SMS or small email containing GPS co-ordinates can be sent to remote parties at fixed intervals.

You can also send and receive Twitter feeds with the IsatPhone2's SMS function.

Firmware Notices:

Inmarsat released a new firmware update (version 1.5.0) on 25 March 2015 that is recommended to be applied to the IsatPhone2. The upgrade is recommended, but not critical.

Inmarsat released a new firmware update (version 1.8.1) on 12 October 2015 that is recommended to be applied to the IsatPhone2. The upgrade is recommended, but not critical.

Inmarsat released a new firmware update (version 1.12.0) on 1 October 2016 that is recommended to be applied to the IsatPhone2. The upgrade is recommended, but not critical.

Inmarsat released a new firmware update (version 2.00.01) on 24 April 2017 that is mandatory to be applied to the IsatPhone2 by 1 August 2017.   The features introduced by the firmware are critical for the functionality of the GSPS service including the network and the IsatPhone 2 handset.

New USB drivers and a new firmware upgrade tool was also released and should be use for this mandatory upgrade. Please uninstall the previous USB drivers and firmware upgrade tool, reboot, then install the new drivers, upgrade tool and the firmware.

Please download and install the latest firmware and upgrade to enable the new features and important fixes.

All Zippisat IsatPhone2 satellite phones shipped from 25 September 2014 and onwards will have firmware 1.4.1 or later (version 1.5.0, or 1.8.1).

All Zippisat IsatPhone2 satellite phones shipped from 25 March 2015 and onwards will have firmware 1.5.0 or later (version 1.8.1).

All Zippisat IsatPhone2 satellite phones shipped from 12 October 2015 and onwards will have firmware 1.8.1 or later.

All Zippisat IsatPhone2 satellite phones shipped from 5 October 2016 and onwards will have firmware 1.12.0 or later.

All Zippisat IsatPhone2 satellite phones shipped from 24 April 2017 and onwards will have firmware 2.00.01 or later.
